Derek McConnell has been Showjumping and Eventing all his life. He has represented Ireland in both codes up to International Level. He represented Ireland in the Eventing World Cup at Ballindenisk Horse Trials finishing in the top 20. He won the 2 Star Horse Trials at Dartfield. He won the Cavan Grand Prix and was second in the Irish Masters in showjumping. He now produces young horses for both sports. Derek teaches extensively both in Ireland and abroad and was also asked to teach two Race Jockey Apprentice Classes by the Race Apprentice Centre in County Kildare. Dereks family are deeply immersed in the racing business, with two vets, a racehorse trainer and a racehorse breeder in the family.
